Why is my iOS App showing up as 1-star review on Google?
Slack clearly isn't a 1-star app, so why is it showing that way?
Whenever you update your iOS app on iTunes store, the current ratings section is resets to "We have not received enough ratings to display an average for the current version of this application"
This also causes the Schema.org information to reset within the iTunes store page.
For example, this is what the HTML looks like normally:
and after you update:
The ratingValue and ratingCount are set to zero. But when Google examines the Schema.org information of the iTunes page, the rich snippet it generates appears as a 1-star rating with 1 rating, rather than just disappearing.
So while you may have a 4-star or 5-star app by aggregate reviews, if you update it, it'll show as a 1-star app with 1 rating in Google search Results until you have enough reviews of the new version and the page is again indexed by Google.
